The traveller said that even though her small suitcase fit in the metal box, she was still charged £60 to bring it on the aircraft.
A woman was left in disbelief by Ryanair after she was charged an additional fee that she felt she shouldn't have to pay.
The low-cost airline is notorious for its stringent baggage size regulations; ordinary ticket holders are only permitted to bring one tiny bag on board, which must not exceed 40 x 30 x 25 cm.
Depending on availability, passengers can also upgrade to cabin baggage, which enables them to bring a piece of luggage no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm and weighing no more than 10 kilogrammes.
Ryanair has warned that checking in at the gate would cost between £70 and £75, while purchasing this upgrade online can cost anywhere between £6 and £36, according to Ryanair.
Social media is rife with ways to circumvent regulations. These consist of putting on several layers and concealing extras in a duty-free bag.

This is due to the fact that Ryanair passengers are greeted at the gate by a metal stand that has two sections for measuring their bags and making sure they fit precisely.
However, ticket holder Robyn Trout claimed she was charged £60 to take her mini suitcase on the plane, despite it fitting into the metal compartment.
In a social media video that went viral and received over 4.5 million views, the TikToker demonstrated how her white bag fit precisely inside the blue box.
However, the bulk of the bag and the handle, which was not completely retracted, appeared to exceed the limit.

"She [the Ryanair employee] really just kept saying 'it doesn't fit, sorry, I need your card details' and was so rude," Trout added with a laugh. She forced the poor woman behind me to do it as well, and she was crying uncontrollably.
Others countered that Ryanair was correct, claiming the luggage was obviously too large.
"It's sticking out ever so slightly as there's a yellow-black line on the outer rim, the depth measured with a ruler is 20cm," a reader clarified.
