Last-minute travellers can still find tickets for as low as £80.99 (€97.59) with Ryanair if they are returning home the day before Christmas Eve, even though Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary warned that one-way fares between London and Dublin would skyrocket to £500 (€600) in the lead-up to the holiday season.
And sometimes it's even less expensive to go home from London to Cork or Knock a few days before Christmas.

Even if certain Ryanair seats on flights from London to Dublin have reached £500, it is common for in-demand services to have skyrocketing costs if reservations are made only a few days before to departure.
As of yesterday, Ryanair was offering £80.99 (€97.59) for a simple one-way travel from London Stansted to Dublin on December 23.
On that day, a one-way basic fare from London Gatwick still cost £90.34 (€108.67). The cheapest one-way ticket from London Luton that day costs £86.45 (€103.99).
Due to Dublin Airport's passenger cap, the airline would be able to provide fewer services, therefore some travellers who were hoping to return home for Christmas would probably have to fly through Belfast, Mr. O'Leary had warned.
Mr. O'Leary stated in October that as a result, Ryanair has 220,000 fewer seats available at Dublin Airport for Christmas. That's twenty per cent less than normal. According to him, this led to a 30% increase in fares as compared to the Christmas period of 2023.
"People won't know how chaotic this is until Christmas when there are a lot of seats available and half of south Dublin is travelling to Belfast to pick up Aoife and Oisín as they return for
Those who decide to fly home late can still do so at a reasonable price if they choose the right London Airport and the right time of day, even though the majority of people who wish to spend Christmas in Ireland will have booked their flights weeks or even months in advance.
Ryanair is still offering one-way flights from London Stansted for as low as £74.76 (€89.91) on December 23 and £58.99 (€70.95) on December 21 for passengers who are making last-minute preparations to return home to Cork.

There were still some one-way Ryanair tickets available yesterday from London Luton to Knock on December 20 for £72.17 (€86.79), £84.63 (€101.77) on December 21 via Stansted, £80.33 (€96.60) from Stansted on December 23, and only £24.49 (€29.45) on Christmas Eve. On Friday, a basic one-way Ryanair ticket between London Luton and Kerry Airport was still available for travel on December 23 for £97.49 (€117.25).
On Christmas Eve, a Ryanair one-way ticket from Gatwick to Shannon would cost £42.99 (€51.70), and £97.92 (€117.75) for December 23.
