Michael O'Leary, the CEO of THE RYANAIR, has stated that he "regrets" charging €500 for one-way tickets from London to Dublin.

In August, O'Leary issued a warning that the passenger cap at Dublin Airport this winter might result in round-trip tickets between the cities rising to €1,000 at Christmas.

Following Storm Darragh earlier this month, ferries between Holyhead and Dublin have also been cancelled until later next month, further restricting the already limited number of flights.

Thousands of ferry passengers who would typically take ferries from Holyhead to Ireland during Christmas now have to look for other ways to get there, such as taking ferries from other ports or taking flights between the two countries.

In order to appeal the winter passenger cap in time for bank holidays, major sporting events, and Cheltenham in the upcoming months, Ryanair is now asking the government to step in.

According to O'Leary, if the state had stepped in sooner, 200,000 more seats would have been available this Christmas. Ryanair is requesting that it be given additional flight slots or departure times from Dublin Airport.

According to the report, tickets for ten flights during the next five days might cost up to €500.
