Today, August 1, marks the 20th anniversary of Ryanair, the top airline in Europe, passing through Cork Airport with over 20 million passengers since it started operating there in 1987. With four Cork-based aircraft and a $400 million investment, Ryanair has a proud history in regional Ireland. It was the first low-cost airline to operate at Cork Airport and has grown from a single route to/from London Luton to a 33-route operation connecting nine countries across Europe. Ryanair also supports over 1,700 local jobs at Cork Airport in addition to over 120 highly paid aviation jobs.

With nearly 300 weekly flights on 33 routes, including five new routes to Barcelona, Brussels, Paris, Rhodes, and Zadar, Ryanair is operating its busiest schedule at Cork Airport this summer. This will not only give customers the best possible selection at the lowest fares when planning their Summer '24 getaways, but it will also significantly boost inbound tourism to Cork.

Jade Kirwan, Head of Communications at Ryanair, stated:

"We are honoured to commemorate reaching the milestone of 20 million passengers passing through Cork Airport. This noteworthy accomplishment confirms Ryanair's ongoing expansion and investment at Cork Airport, which has supported over 1,700 local jobs and over 120 highly paid aviation positions with an investment of over $400 million.

With nearly 300 weekly flights on 33 destinations, including Ryanair's five new summer sunshine lines to Barcelona, Brussels, Paris, Rhodes, and Zadar, we are running our busiest schedule to/from Cork Airport ever this summer. In the upcoming years, we hope to transport millions more people on Ryanair's inexpensive flights to and from Cork.
