Ryanair has been ranked ninth in the 2024 World's Best Low-Cost Airlines list, showing a significant improvement from its 13th position in 2023. Jet2.com and easyJet also featured in the rankings, coming in at 12th and 10th respectively, although both airlines dropped from their previous positions where Jet2.com was 10th and easyJet was 11th last year.

Ryanair's rise in the rankings can be attributed to several key factors, most notably its emphasis on punctuality and operational efficiency. The airline's on-time performance has been a standout factor, with industry experts suggesting that easyJet's lower ranking might be influenced by the longer delays at Gatwick, its primary hub, which is known for congestion and delays. In contrast, Ryanair's main UK hub at Stansted is less prone to such issues, contributing to its improved ranking.

Travel industry experts have highlighted the strategic moves made by Ryanair under the leadership of CEO Michael O'Leary. A focus on punctuality, investment in new aircraft, and maintaining low fares have been central to the airline's success.

"Ryanair has pipped both easyJet and Jet2 in the low-cost carrier award category, possibly based on 'on-time' performance," an industry expert told MailOnline Travel. "This might, in part, be due to easyJet suffering longer delays given more of its flights are out of Gatwick, which is notoriously more prone to delays than Stansted, Ryanair's main UK hub. However, Ryanair is an increasingly slick operation run by the inimitable Michael O'Leary, who has focused on punctuality, investment in new aircraft, and ultimately cheap fares. It delivers what the travelling public want."

Gilbert Ott, founder of the travel site God Save The Points, praised Ryanair for its investments in digital technology and customer service improvements. "Ryanair is deserving of praise. The airline continues to boast among the highest on-time performance across low-cost carriers and has invested heavily in digital technology. Travellers just want to get where they're going on time, and Ryanair consistently is among the lowest for basic fares and improving digital experiences are removing previous friction points."

Customer reviews reflect this positive sentiment. A traveller using the handle 'Seconda731' wrote on TripAdvisor: "I recently flew with Ryanair and I was impressed by the overall experience. The airline offers a no-frills, cost-effective option for travel without compromising on efficiency. The booking process was straightforward, and their commitment to punctuality was evident throughout my journey."

Ryanair's continued focus on delivering affordable, reliable travel options is likely to sustain its upward trajectory in industry rankings. As the airline further enhances its fleet and digital services, it aims to maintain its reputation for punctuality and customer satisfaction.

The recognition in the World's Best Low-Cost Airlines ranking not only cements Ryanair's position as a leading budget carrier but also highlights the airline's successful strategies in meeting the evolving demands of modern travellers.
