Numerous helicopters involved into rescue operations following Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore

Rescue operations are underway, according to the mayor, after a cargo vessel struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge and sent cars into the water.

Following a collision between a container ship and the major bridge in Baltimore early on Tuesday, which sent several vehicles into the water, the bridge collapsed.

At least five Police and Coast Guard helicopters are part of the operations as seven people believed to be in the water.

 

 A large vessel had crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Dali had left Baltimore at 1am and was heading for the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, according to the maritime data platform MarineTraffic.
