An Allegiant Air flight declares an emergency after go around at Chicago Rockford International Airport

An emergency was declared on an Allegiant Air flight to Chicago.

A mechanical problem led to the emergency declaration of Allegiant Air flight #G4875 from Punta Gorda to Chicago/Rockford.

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 16:35 EDT, the aircraft took off from Punta Gorda, Florida, and flew for three hours.

The aircraft, an Airbus A320 registered N241NV, which is 23 years old, was used for the flight.

Due to flap problems, the crew had to do a go-around during their final approach to runway 1 while descending from their cruise altitude of 34,000 feet.

In holding, as the crew worked through the problem, the aircraft ascended to 3,000 feet.

After declaring an emergency, the pilots approached runway 7 one last time, and the aircraft touched down safely.

Without any help, the plane taxied itself to the gate.
