Air India Express Boeing 737 collides with IndiGo Airbus A320neo

At Kolkata Subhas Chandra Bose Airport in India on March 27, an IndiGo Airbus A320neo and an Air India Express Boeing 737 collided on the ground. Both aeroplanes were damaged, but they made it back to the gate.

The IndiGo Airbus A320neo, registered VT-ISS, was taxiing at Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in preparation for takeoff. Nevertheless, the A320neo struck a parked Air India Express Boeing 737 with registration VT-TGG during taxiing.

According to reports, the IndiGo A320neo inadvertently touched the wingtip of the parked Air India Express aircraft while it was waiting for clearance to take off the runway.

Fortunately, it looks like the impact was minor, damaging only the winglets, or wingtip extensions, on both aircraft.

India's aviation authority, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has also opened an investigation into the event to ascertain its cause.

IndiGo aircraft 6E6152, which was supposed to depart Kolkata for Darbhanga, was delayed as a result of the event. Officials from IndiGo said that while plans were being made to reduce disruption, passengers were given refreshments on board.

In order to guarantee that the delayed flight took off as soon as possible, a backup aircraft was coordinated.
