On December 5, 2023, Munich International Airport (MUC) had to close and suspend all morning flight operations due to heavy snowfall that covered the runways, aircraft, and airport.
The airport has been temporarily closed as a result of snowfall and rain that froze overnight due to low temperatures.
This follows the suspension of operations due to freezing temperatures on the weekend of December 2-3, 2023.
The second-busiest airport in Germany, MUC, declared on social media that on December 5, 2023, air traffic will be suspended until 12 p.m.

The airport announced that from the start of operations at 6:00 on December 5, 2023, until 12:00 noon, there would be no takeoffs or landings.

Private aircraft carrying German delegates to the Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai were among the aircraft that were frozen during the weekend closure.
The airport also declared that light rides will not be operating and that the Christmas and winter markets will close on December 8, 2023.

To ensure that operations resume on schedule, airport staff are seen in a video clip on December 5, 2023, removing and clearing snow in the morning.
"The first part of the day will see the de-icing of the operating areas.
It is intended to permit aviation operations to resume at midday. The airport also advised travelers to use the online services of their individual airline because there is "insufficient capacity" available at the airport.
