A Boeing 737-800 aircraft experienced dramatic flame bursts during flight, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.
On December 8, 2023, the Boeing 737, operated by S7 Airlines, a Russian airline, took off from Novosibirsk International Airport (OVB) but encountered technical difficulties in midair.
According to the local media, one of the engines caught fire, forcing the crew to make an emergency landing back at OVB rather than continuing to their destination in Moscow.
There were 176 people on board, but all were said to be in good health upon landing, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.

According to Xinhua, a representative of the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office verified that the passengers were being "accommodated in the airport building while another aircraft was being readied for the flight."
One of the jet's engines could be seen sporadically spouting flames on a video of the incident.
Social media users claimed that during takeoff, the plane's two engines failed and that the passengers heard explosions.
According to Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, this was the tenth Russian airline plane to have a malfunction in less than eight days.
According to numerous reports, Russia is having trouble repairing its aircraft because Western sanctions are preventing parts and components from entering the country.
