The Busiest Airbus A380 Route: London Heathrow To Dubai International

There are several high-density routes that the double-decker quadjet is still extremely well suited for, even though the Airbus A380 has been shown to be something of a white elephant.

With an average of over 7.5 Airbus A380-operated flights every day in each direction just this month, the route connecting London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Dubai International (DXB) is the most noteworthy of them!

Central Superjumbo

The world's busiest route in terms of Airbus A380-operated flights in November 2023 is London Heathrow to Dubai International, according to scheduling data made accessible by data specialists Cirium.

There will be 223 Airbus A380 departures on this route overall this month, or an average of 7.43 per day.

The majority of these flights—180 in total—will be operated by UAE flag carrier Emirates, which is arguably not surprising considering that it is the largest Airbus A380 operator in the world. On this route, British Airways operates 43 Airbus A380 flights that are headed for Dubai, therefore their presence is especially noteworthy.

This month there are even more flights conducted by Airbus A380 from Dubai International Airport to London Heathrow. There will be 224 departures in this direction in November 2023, or an average of 7.47 flights per day. Again, 180 of these are operated by Emirates, while 44 are by British Airways.

The other Heathrow-to-UAE corridor

Although there are many more Airbus A380 flights from London Heathrow to Dubai International Airport, it is not the only location in the United Arab Emirates that the superjumbo serves. Indeed, Cirium's data reveals that there are about three flights every day from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).

84 Airbus A380-operated flights, or an average of 2.8 per day, will leave the largest and busiest airport in the UK for this Middle Eastern hub this month. As of right now, Etihad Airways, the UAE flag carrier based in Abu Dhabi, is the sole airline operating in the corridor. In April 2024, British Airways intends to make a comeback, but it will do it using the Boeing 787.
