At 18:45 local time, Ryanair aircraft FR3102 took off from Dublin and headed east towards Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
It is understood that the pilots were notified of a message indicating that the cargo door was open, as per @Shauns_Aviation on X.
Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft had to go through a number of holds before it could safely land in Dublin.
As of this writing (19/11/23 @ 1930 UK time), the aircraft is still on the ground, thus it is uncertain when the flight will proceed on to Amsterdam.
Update:
— Shauns_Aviation🇮🇪✈️ (@Shauns_Aviation) November 19, 2023
There are no signs that the cargo door was open, but the aircraft will be taken out of service for checks.
The door most likely didn’t open, it was probably a faulty sensor.#aviation #dublinairport #avgeek #emergency #diversion #plane https://t.co/rkPJa6iA8r
Following an examination of the aircraft, it was discovered that the cargo door was not actually open, suggesting that the cause may have been a malfunctioning sensor on the door. This will lead to the grounding of EI-DLC.
UPDATE #1 (20/111/23) at 09:43 UK time It appears that the Ryanair flight's problem was ultimately with one of the passenger doors rather than the cargo door.
