At Dublin Airport, a man in his 50s was taken into custody on suspicion of human trafficking.
This arrest, which took place on Thursday, is part of an ongoing international investigation into organized crime related to money laundering, fraud, and human trafficking with the intention of using the victims for sexual exploitation.
The man is being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at a west Dublin Garda Station.
He might spend up to seven days in custody.
Human trafficking victims are advised to get in touch with their local Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line by calling 1800 666 111, according to a Garda Síochána. Additionally, reports can be sent to blueblindfold@garda.ie, where they will be handled with the utmost discretion.
