The arrival of the airline's first A321neo signifies the continuation of ITA Airways' all-Airbus fleet policy.
The all-blue aircraft left Airbus's Hamburg production plant and was delivered on a lease from Air Lease Corporation.
The aircraft manufacturer announced on November 10, 2023, that the A321neo had joined the fleet of ITA Airways, which already included the newest A220, A320neo, A330neo, and A350 models. This made the new aircraft the 81st aircraft produced by Airbus.
The new plane, which can travel up to 4,000 nautical miles, will be used by ITA Airways for medium-haul operations.
The new aircraft has three classes: twelve full flat beds in business class with direct aisle access, twelve premium economy seats arranged four abreast, and one hundred and forty-one economy seats, twelve of which are designated as "Comfort Economy."
The Airbus Airspace cabin design, which incorporates larger XL overhead bins and specialized interior lighting based on the newest full-LED technologies to assist combat jet lag, is installed on the Italian carrier's A321neo aircraft.
The most recent in-flight entertainment system from Airbus, featuring private displays and on-demand video, is also available at every seat.
The first all-blue Airbus A220 arrived at ITA in August 2023. The previous four of this kind had an all-white fuselage with the slogan "Born To Be Sustainable" on the side.
The all-white livery symbolizes ITA Airways' fleet renewal plan, which calls for the carrier to fly 80% of its newer, greener planes by 2026.
With a 50% noise reduction and over 20% fuel and CO2 reductions over earlier generation single-aisle aircraft, the A321neo is the largest aircraft in Airbus' A320neo family.
Over 5,500 A321neos have been ordered by customers worldwide so far.
