IndiGo is looking at more Airbus A320 groundings due to P&W engine problems

One of the numerous airlines affected worldwide is IndiGo, as a result of Pratt & Whitney inspecting multiple of its aircraft engines. The airline is facing more grounding because of the persistent problems with P&W GTF engines, although it already has a number of Airbus A320s parked at airports, mostly because of engine supply chain troubles.

More planes will be grounded

The largest airline in India, IndiGo, is preparing for the grounding of many additional aircraft in the upcoming months as a result of issues with the Pratt & Whitney (P&W) PW1100G engine. In order for the engine manufacturer to do the required inspections, a number of the carrier's Airbus A320 aircraft will be taken out of service.

Gaurav Negi, the airline's CFO, provided an update on this matter at the post-financial results analyst call. The number of planes that will be impacted is currently unknown, and IndiGo will wait for more information from P&W. Negi stated

What will IndiGo do?

IndiGo has already grounded 40 aircraft as a result of P&W engine supply chain problems. Its operations will undoubtedly be impacted by additional plane groundings, particularly during the busy winter months. IndiGo is making multiple efforts to keep its fleet capacity in order to lessen the issue.

It entered into a leasing arrangement with BOC Aviation Limited in August for ten A320neos, all of which are scheduled for delivery this year.

In addition, the carrier plans to wet lease a number of A320s to make up for the grounded fleet and maintain its expanding network.
