The first of Brussels Airlines' five new A320neo aircraft has been delivered, adding to the airline's all-Airbus fleet.
This is the first aircraft from the A320neo family that the national airline of Belgium, a part of the Lufthansa Group, has acquired.
On November 1, 2023, the airline and Airbus released a joint statement detailing the terms of their agreement.
Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal strategy includes the purchase of five new A320neo aircraft, which will enable the airline to operate efficient aircraft and satisfy sustainability standards.
Airbus claims that the A320neo is equipped with the newest technology, such as sharklets for enhanced aerodynamics and new-generation CFM International LEAP-1A engines for increased efficiency, which combined cut fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by at least 20%.
The 180 seats in a single class are arranged in an Airbus Airspace cabin on Brussels Airlines A320neos.
The 43-aircraft all-Airbus fleet operated by Brussels Airlines, which consists of nine A330-300s and 34 A320 family members, will welcome the new A320neo.
The new aircraft, according to Airbus, is "perfectly sized for the European market and will enter into service on the carrier's short- to medium-haul network."
The A320 family of aircraft has over 130 clients worldwide placing over 9,700 orders, making it the most popular aircraft worldwide.
