Jetstar Asia Unveiled Airbus A320s Singapore To Wuxi

It's exciting and challenging to launch a new airline route, especially when it's the first time two destinations have been connected by a nonstop flight. By starting a new service between Singapore and Wuxi, a Chinese city located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Shanghai, Jetstar Asia has taken up the slack.

A brand-new direct route to China

A new direct flight between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Wuxi's Sunan Shuofang International Airport (WUX) was announced by Jetstar Asia yesterday. Jetstar will be the only airline running a nonstop service between Singapore and Wuxi in southern Jiangsu province when service begins on December 28.

The service will first run twice weekly on Monday and Thursday, increasing to four weekly return flights on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday starting on January 15, 2024. The departure flights from Singapore Changi will take off at 7:10 and land in Wuxi at 12:30; the return flights will take off at 13:30 and land in Singapore at 18:55.

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi was thrilled to announce a second China destination and another well-known city in the airline's expanding network. The company anticipates carrying more than 70,000 passengers annually between the two destinations.

"Since China reopened their borders and entry requirements for foreign visitors returned to what they were pre-COVID, we're seeing strong interest for services to key Chinese ports as well as increasing demand for services from China to Singapore."

Jetstar Asia, according to ch-aviation, runs a fleet of seven Airbus A320-200s with 180 seats in an all-economy 3-3 configuration.

Wuxi will be the airline's second route between Singapore and China, adding to the currently offered four-times-weekly service to Haikou.
