Eight hours: Arajet Introduces One of the Longest Boeing 737 MAX Routes in the World

There's a new, extremely long Boeing 737 MAX route in the world. The reason for this is that on October 29, the day airlines in the Northern Hemisphere began operating on winter schedules, Arajet launched service from Santo Domingo to Santiago de Chile.

Arajet's longest service to date is 3,564 miles (5,736 km) long, or nearly as far as Paris CDG to New York JFK. Not long after Toronto was introduced, there was a launch.

Welcome, Santiago!

During the first eight months of 2023, Santiago de Chile was Santo Domingo's greatest untapped South American market. There were roughly 28,000 round-trip passengers, the majority of whom used Copa to fly via Panama City, based on booking statistics.

served just by – guess what? – three times a week. The new route for Arajet's 185-seat, two-class 737 MAX 8 aircraft is scheduled as follows, with all timings local:

Santo Domingo-Santiago: DM187, 18:00-03:00+1 (8h block)

Santiago-Santo Domingo: DM188, 04:35-11:35 (8h)

The 1.7-year-old HI1026 was delivered to Arajet in March 2022, and it was awarded the honor of first roundtrip. Flightradar24 reports that the first outward flight took 7 hours 4 minutes, whereas the first inbound flight took only 7 hours 26 minutes. That's fancy.

A potential connecting machine?

Arajet offers fast connections throughout the Caribbean, Central America, and North America and is designed to function as a network connectivity provider similar to Copa. With a competitive wait, this map displays Santiago's two-way connectivity right now. They include Montreal, another brand-new route that starts in November, though they are currently limited.

On a flight from Chile to Montreal, for instance, passengers must wait 1 hour 25 minutes in the Dominican Republic and 1 hour 20 minutes returning. In this scenario, the twice-weekly flights are relatively few, which is the real issue. (There are no two-way connections on other flights.)
