United Airlines just flew its very first Airbus A321neo for a test run.

This baby took off from Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport at 10:07 in the morning and touched down at Hamburg Airport by 12:47 pm. If you're into planes, you might've seen some cool snaps shared by plane enthusiasts who caught the plane leaving the Airbus assembly line in northern Germany.

Guess what? They've got a big flight planned for December 2023! This aircraft is set to fly from Chicago O’Hare to Phoenix Sky Harbor on flight UA321. A while back, during their Q2 2023 update, United mentioned they were hoping to get 12 of these Airbus A321neos by the end of this year. But, ya know how it goes with deliveries and delays – they're expecting just four of them now. No worries, though, because they're gearing up for a whopping 29 A321neo deliveries in 2024, and the rest will follow after that.

By the way, apart from these A321neos, United's also looking at 50 Boeing 737 MAXs coming their way. They've got a big order placed with Boeing. And just a fun tidbit: they've set aside a cool $6.8 billion for all sorts of airplane goodies in the latter half of 2023. Oh, and speaking of Airbuses, they've got their eyes on another 50 A321XLRs, but those are planned for post-2024.

Looking at their current fleet, they haven't played around with the A320neo or A321ceo. But they do have a bunch of A319ceo and A320ceo planes. A few of them are taking a little nap right now (they're inactive), but I'm sure they'll be back in the skies soon. If you're a numbers person, you can find more details on ch-aviation.com.
