A private Learjet 45 just slid off the runway at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

This happened around 5 p.m. local time, and let me tell you, the weather was really rough. According to Mint, the jet had the registration VT-DBL and was trying to land on runway 27 amid heavy rain. You could hardly see half a mile ahead, says the local weather report from flightradar24.com.

An hour later, visibility got even worse—dropping to just around 0.43 miles. Meanwhile, clips on whatever we're calling Twitter these days showed emergency teams rushing to the scene. Fire trucks were there, hosing down the plane.

The aviation bigwigs at the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation told the Hindustan Times that the Learjet was part of what they call a "runway excursion," which sounds way more fun than it probably was. There were six passengers and two crew members on board, by the way.

But get this, another video on "Not-Twitter" showed the Learjet actually crashing into the runway while trying to land. Crazy, right?

And you know how Mumbai airport is always busy? Flights like an Akasa Air Boeing 737 MAX from Ahmedabad and a couple of Vistara and IndiGo planes were seen circling the area. The traffic jam in the sky caused by this accident has led to an average arrival delay of 36 minutes and departures being held back by about 18 minutes, according to flightradar24.com.
