On Sunday, July 9, 2023, shortly after 11 p.m. local time, the flight from Orlando arrived, and according to reports, the man fled out of an emergency hatch before cops could board the aircraft.
The suspect then sprinted across the tarmac in the direction of the airport building after climbing onto the wing and jumping off.
According to reports, the passenger was sitting in the exit row, which allowed him to leave the plane so rapidly.
The man was reportedly found around 45 minutes later, concealed inside an LSG Sky Chef truck.
“We take these incidents very seriously, and the crew called airport police who responded quickly,” Sun Country told FOX 9 “Fortunately, Passengers and crew are fine.”
Sun Country Airlines describes itself as “a new breed of hybrid low-cost air carrier”.
The airline operates 12 freighters and 42 passenger jets. It serves 94 airports and runs approximately 118 routes.
Its headquarters are in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
