International Airlines Group (IAG) has made adjustments to its aircraft orders to restore capacity in its airlines’ long-haul fleets.
In order to increase capacity in the long-haul fleets of its airlines, International Airlines Group (IAG) has modified its aircraft orders.
IAG turned confirmed orders for one Airbus A350-900 and six Boeing 787-10s from options into confirmed orders. This tactical choice will enable the group's subsidiaries, British Airways and Iberia, to better fulfill the rising demand for long-haul flights by expanding their fleets.
“These latest generation aircraft will contribute to restoring capacity to pre-pandemic levels,” Luis Gallego, IAG Chief Executive Officer, said. “They will be among the most fuel-efficient aircraft in our long-haul fleet and will help towards our commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
Additionally, IAG is expanding its fleet of Boeing 787-10s by six more aircraft. The order book of British Airways is expected to comprise all six of these recently acquired aircraft.
These aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.
