Catering Issues See British Airways Serving Just One Piece Of KFC To Passengers

Fried chicken is definitely better than starving or food poisoning.

Even while travellers frequently express dissatisfaction with the quality, flavour, or presentation of their in-flight meals, it's doubtful that their negative encounters will ever equal what happened to travellers on a British Airways long-haul flight. During the 12-hour flight, passengers were fed Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) from buckets that were supposedly finger-licking excellent.

Unsavoury catering

The British Airways flight in question was BA 252, a regularly scheduled direct flight that ferries passengers between Providenciales International Airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands and Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport in the Bahamas before making its way to London Heathrow Airport. On July 23, a Boeing 777-200ER with the airline's registration G-VIIN was flying this route.

The majority of the departure procedure in Providenciales appeared to be going according to plan, but an unforeseen catering issue caused serious issues. The aircraft catering carts did not appear to be sufficiently cold, and all of the food had to be thrown away, according to British Airways, who did not define the problem.

For the hundreds of passengers with tickets for either the lengthy flight back to London or the quick flight to Nassau, there was no catered food available.

Even though this is an exceptional situation, the airline had the option of postponing or cancelling the trip to find new catering for its passengers. However, doing so would expose the company to increased costs and the wrath of the guests for making such a last-minute alteration. To put it another way, the Oneworld alliance member has to come up with a unique answer.

A variety of options

The airline used creativity when, during the brief layover in Nassau, the staff went on a fast food run and surprised the passengers with several buckets of KFC chicken. But since it was so last-minute and time was of the essence, the KFC branch visited could not fulfil hundreds of fried chicken orders for every single passenger onboard.
