On July 6, 2023, around 5:15 p.m., local police in the United Kingdom (UK) acknowledged that they received a call.

Following reports of a light aircraft crash on the grounds of Heveningham Hall, Suffolk Police responded to the scene.

It is believed that the solo pilot sustained serious injuries during the crash landing.

“At this stage it is believed the pilot was attempting to land the plane at the time of the incident,” a spokesperson for Suffolk Police said.

Police blocked off a section of businessman Jon Hunt's sprawling country estate Heveningham Hall while preserving the accident scene.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been notified and will be looking into the incident, according to the officers.

By the end of August 1945, General Motors had produced approximately 4,500 Wildcat aircraft, according to the Classic Warbirds website.

Several General Motors Wildcats that were used by the US Navy in World War II were provided to the UK on a lend-lease basis.

Prior to returning to its previous American name of Wildcat, these were once known as Martlets.

This weekend, guests are expected at Heveningham Hall's airfield for the annual country fair.

A flying demonstration by Spitfire fighter planes is one of the events scheduled attractions.
