A sailor is saved by an Indian Coast Guard aircraft during a storm: video

Video footage has emerged showing the moment an Indian Coast Guard ALH Dhruv helicopter performed a challenging medical evacuation from MT Celestial Copenhagen, a liquified natural gas (LNG) tanker, 50 miles off the coast of Porbandar, Gujarat, in northwest India.

A challenging medical evacuation from the LNG tanker MT Celestial Copenhagen was carried out by an Indian Coast Guard ALH Dhruv helicopter 50 miles off the coast of Porbandar, Gujarat, in northwest India. Video of the incident has surfaced online.

Video of the rescue operation, which entailed airlifting a seriously ill crew member who was an Indian national, was made public by Indian media.

Because the ship lacked a landing deck, the patient had to be hoisted onto the helicopter using a crane.

A LNG terminal is located at the Indian port of Dahej, Gujarat, where the MT Celestial Copenhagen was sailing from Oman.

The ALH Dhruv is a multi-role helicopter developed by Hindustan Aeronautics in cooperation with Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) of Germany. It entered service in 2002 and is currently used by all different branches of the Indian military.
