A video showing the crash of a Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-31 Foxhound fighter was shared by the Telegram channel Fighterbomber, run by a person involved with the Russian Air Force.
The Russian Air Force-affiliated Telegram channel Fighterbomber uploaded a video of the crash of a Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-31 Foxhound fighter.
Another Russian aircraft, most likely a second MiG-31 that served as the subject aircraft's wingman, captured the entire action on camera.
The MiG-31 aircraft is seen in the footage suffering a major engine failure, which sparks a sizable fire inside. It's important to note that the aircraft's landing gear is extended, which suggests that it may have taken off recently.
Onboard the airplane, the two crew members can be seen ejecting. As the plane starts to descend and eventually crashes into the mountains, the footage comes to an end.
Not much is known about the incident, other than the fact that it allegedly occurred before February 24, 2022, the day on which Russia's invasion of Ukraine began. Fighter-bomber claims that both crew members were saved and made a full recovery.
