Airbus plans to utilize mixed-reality technology to bring an immersive experience to cabin customization as a part of its disruptive concepts program.
Airbus is once again setting the standard for the industry by elevating digital collaboration. An immersive remote collaboration concept that makes use of mixed reality technology to enable seamless aircraft interior modification with input from consumers was introduced by the manufacturer to audiences at the Paris Air Show.
Immersive design and communication
Airbus' definition of aircraft interiors is about to change because of the innovative idea. Customers will be able to see a 3D model of the cabin of their preferred aircraft and virtually step inside it by using holograms and virtual reality technologies.
Customers can interact with the environment and effect changes they want because the technology is adaptable enough. They can alter the seat kinds, materials, colors, and any other changeable features in the cabin. They may also give immediate input to designers thanks to it. The launch of this program is the most recent in a series of initiatives to enhance upcoming planes and streamline the manufacturing process. For pilot instruction, Airbus has employed a comparable, more straightforward mixed-reality system. But this idea elevates everything to a new level. Holograms can even be used to replicate the handling of real things in a virtual environment.
Airbus also sponsored the Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit earlier in the year, giving important figures in the commercial aerospace sector a place to get together and discuss some of the pressing problems the sector is now facing.

Release date and future plans
The concept is known by the manufacturer as "Airbus immersive remote collaboration." The program's introduction was announced by the business, which stated that "this innovative concept builds on Airbus' experience with mixed reality technology in industrial environments and highly-accurate visualization of aircraft interiors."

The A320 family will be the first to use the program when it is released in 2025. If it is a success, more mixed-reality solutions may be implemented in the company's other commercial aircraft and helicopter projects.
Catherin Jestin, Executive Vice President of Digital and Information Management at Airbus, outlined the goals the corporation has for the initiative:
“With this new solution, Airbus is opening a new era where mixed reality will help shape the future of aircraft cabin definition. We are leveraging the power of data and the most advanced technologies to create engaging, interactive, and realistic virtual experiences for our customers, accessible at any time, from anywhere in the world. This shows how we foster digital innovation at Airbus for all our products and services, always keeping our customers at heart.”
