A 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 flown by United Nigeria Airlines skidded off the runway in Lagos, Nigeria.
In Lagos, Nigeria, a United Nigeria Airlines 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 skidded off the runway.
On May 31, 2023, the airline provided confirmation of the incident's details and added that none of the 50 passengers had been hurt.
When the event occurred, the Embraer plane was flying from Abakaliki, Ebonyi state, to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS).
United Nigeria said that although the landing was successful, the plane had to "terminate its movement to the apron off the runway."
Unverified pictures taken at the Lagos airport show a white Embraer jet parked in a grassy section of the airport with multiple fire trucks encircling it.
All passengers disembarked safely and were transported to the arrival halls along with their luggage, the airline said.
Engineers from United Nigeria Airlines and representatives of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were on the scene helping to move the plane to a hangar.
Investigators from the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) were also looking into the incident.
