London's Southend Airport celebrated its first post-pandemic flights from Amsterdam and Faro this week. Both services are complements of easyJet and complete the Essex airport's summer roster of destinations.
This week marked the first post-pandemic flights from Faro and Amsterdam at London's Southend Airport. Both trips complement easyJet and round out the list of summer destinations available from the Essex airport.
On hand for the first flight out of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Wednesday was Simple Flying. While they checked in, The Music Man Project, a charity that provides music education for adults with learning impairments and is located in Essex, had a fantastic performance for the leaving flight's passengers.
Most passengers made it to the airside quickly after clearing security at the airport. ASHBY performed a live DJ set while travellers waited for their flights in the departures area. They also got to spend time with a therapy dog.
Four destinations this summer
Throughout the summer, flights from London Southend Airport to Amsterdam will run up to four times per week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. EasyJet's operations in London Southend have grown by 30% as a result of the addition of these new flights, with up to 18 flights per week now being offered. EasyJet's UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, expressed their eagerness for the additional routes to begin
“We are delighted to be celebrating the launch of our new route between London Southend and Amsterdam today. The new route is set to be popular with business and leisure passengers alike and we’re excited to see the first flights take off today. The addition of Amsterdam, joining Malaga, Faro and Palma as easyJet destinations from London Southend enables us to provide our customers with an even wider range of fantastic beach and city routes across Europe.
“We remain committed to strengthening our unrivalled short-haul network and providing affordable and convenient connections for our customers across the UK, all with great value fares and the warm welcome that our crew are famous for.”
