Jetstar fined a passenger for trying to "hack" a bag by wearing extra clothes.

A passenger whose travel hack did not fly has been fined after attempting to circumvent an airline’s excess baggage fee.

After attempting to avoid paying an airline's extra baggage tax, a passenger whose travel hack did not work was punished.

Jetstar Australia was transporting Adriana Ocampo and Emily Altamura on a domestic flight within Australia from Melbourne Airport (MEL) to Adelaide Airport (ADL) when they encountered the unexpected: the airline actually checked the baggage weight while checking in.

“Every other time I’ve flown with them they haven’t checked,” Ocampo wrote in the comments of her now-viral TikTok video, which has now garnered 1.4 million views.

The two passengers were seen in the TikTok video giggling as they struggled to fit into layer after layer of clothing at the airport.

Ocampo even made the attempt at one point to stuff her iPad into her pants, which were already bursting at the seams from the layers of clothing underneath.

The airline caught the pair's obvious attempt to wear their excess baggage.

Ocampo claimed in an interview with Insider that Jetstar had given them a choice: either get rid of the extra 6 pounds of clothing they were carrying and pay a fee, or miss their flight entirely.

While acknowledging the "funny side," a Jetstar spokeswoman told Insider that the airline places restrictions on carry-on to ensure that it is fair for everyone.

“Keeping track of how much baggage passengers bring onboard means everyone has room for their belongings and we’re meeting our safety requirements,” Jetstar said.

And to add to this they cancelled the flight we had before this one
